History of American Railroad

Railroads were invented first originated in London in the 19th century. Then the first transcontinental railroad was invented in US during the 1860's. I found a picture of a London Railroad Ticket (2nd Class) and it cost 4d. "d" is actually a slang for pence/penny in the 19th century. 4 pence in London is around 6 pennies in US, so let's just assume that a regular ticket would be a few pennies in the past. I think that railroads are invented for the public citizens since the tickets aren't very expensive. I would gaurantee that all trains travels below 30 mph because the trains in the 19th century travels at around 10 mph to 30 mph maximum. Here is a map of an 19th century American railroad.
and here is a photo of a 19th century railroad ticket (London)

If you would want to experience a 19th century railroad ride, then you should visit this website for more information : http://www.vacationsmadeeasy.com/GreaterMountRushmoreAreaSD/activity/1880Train.cfm .
It is such a shame that it used to cost pennies for a ride, but now a 19th century railroad ride costs a minimum of 20 dollars USD.
